Mazda’s portfolio of Carbon Edition vehicles got an upgrade to Carbon Turbo. The aim is to give the Carbon models a performance upgrade to match the impressive look.

2024 Mazda Carbon Turbo line-up REL
Mazda rolled out its newest specialty line-up of vehicles: the 2024 Carbon Turbo Edition.

New for the 2024 model year, the new package also gets a new exterior color too: Zircon Sand Metallic. It will be available first on the Mazda3, CX-30 and CX-5.

“Carbon Turbo complements the previously released Carbon Edition line-up, both offering a sense of sportiness blended with upscale styling,” the company said in a statement. “They both share gloss black exterior flourishes, like black metallic aluminum alloy wheels, side mirrors, and front grille, but with Carbon Turbo having its own unique color scheme to stand out from the crowd.”

In addition to the new exterior color, the interior features terracotta, black suede and gunmetal accents designed complement the new exterior and give it a classic look that remains fresh for a long time.

New look, new performance

2022 Mazda CX-9 front REL
The 2022 Mazda CX-9 AWD Carbon certainly checks all the boxes people seem to prefer in a vehicle today.

The Carbon Turbo models feature Mazda’s Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive. This engaging powertrain produces 256 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque on premium 93 octane fuel, or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular 87 octane fuel.

Pricing and specific features for the new Carbon Turbo models will be announced in closer to the time each base vehicle is introduced for the 2024 model year. The Carbon Edition arrived for the 2021 model year with a Polymetal Gray exterior and red leather interior accents.

The Carbon Edition interior boasts all-red leather upholstery with special stitching as swell as black metallic alloy wheels and gloss black side mirrors, as well as black interior trimming and exterior accents.

The package also features premium Bose sound systems with standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The standard heated seats keep the driver and passenger warm, while safety comes almost the entire Mazda i-Activsense suite, including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and Mazda radar cruise control with stop-and-go and brake support.

It was initially available on just the 2021 CX-5, CX-9 and Mazda6. It expanded to other vehicles in subsequent years.
