There is still time to register for “Quantum Leap: Developments in China IP Law over the Past Two Years”. The program will discuss the major changes in Chinese IP that have occurred due to the trade war and China’s own quest to become an innovative and strong IP economy. The focus will be on the impact to the foreign business community. I will moderate the program with Prof. Hao Yuan. CLE credit is available and the program is free of charge.

May 12: Asia Society Northern California is hosting an off-the-record Executive Roundtable program on CFIUS and export controls that I will be moderating. The focus will be on tech issues of concern to the innovation and investment community. Speakers include James Mendenhall (Sidley & Austin), Karalyn Mildorf (White & Case), and Hon. Nazak Nikakhtar (Wiley Rein). The program is from 4:00-5:00 pm, Pacific Time. Space is limited.

May 13: Profs Robert Merges and Hao Yuan will join me in a book talk with Prof. Angela Zhang, author of Chinese Antitrust Exceptionalism: How the Rise of China Challenges Global Regulation. While Prof. Zhang has given several talks recently, the Berkeley discussion is different. Its exclusive focus is on technology and intellectual property, including trade-related aspects of IP and antitrust. This free program is from 4:30-5:30 PM, Pacific Time. May 27: The Asia IP Project will be launching a four-part series moderated by Prof. Hao Yuan on standards essential patents, “Toward a Deeper Understanding”. The first of the 75-90 minute sessions is at 5:00 PM Pacific Time and will focus on FRAND methodologies. Speakers include Dr. Fei Deng (Charles River Associates), Prof. Alexander Galetovic (Hoover Institution), Prof. Robert Merges (Berkeley Law) and Hongbin Zhang (Lexfield Law Office). The second talk will be in late August on concurrent litigation and jurisdictional competition. The series is free and CLE credit is available.

In mid/late June a four-part CLE credit, certificate series of China IP programs will commence. This year the focus is on IP enforcement issues. Details will be forthcoming.
