Lunar Lander is going Beyond!

Remember Lunar Lander? Atari are bringing that classic back as they announce Lunar Landing: Beyond.

It’s safe to say that Atari are right on it at the moment. They’ve already got a host of Recharged games under their belt. And the upcoming rebooting and launch of Mr. Run and Jump looks like it’ll be equally joysome. But very soon they’ll be wandering onto the launchpad again, as they bring a classic up-to-date with Lunar Landing: Beyond.

Going Beyond

Coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S will be Lunar Lander: Beyond. It’s also coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2024. In development via Atari and Dreams Uncorporated (they behind the gorgeous Cris Tales), this will bring the iconic game bursting into the modern era, leaving the 1970s vibes far behind.

A space explorer, the devs will be looking to add modern features into Beyond, building on what made the game such a loved spectacle from back in the day. That means you’ll be discovering a narrative in place, precision gravity flier mechanics, simulation and more.

A new Lunar Lander game, this one places you in the boots of a captain of the Pegasus Corporation. It’s here where you must guide a vibrant crew of intrepid explorers, eclectic advisors, and state-of-the-art landers through a series of demanding missions.

Bracing yourself as you soar through the cosmos and go delivering crucial cargo. You’ll also be found extracting valuable resources, and conducting daring rescues. It’ll all take place across a celestial tapestry of enigmatic moons and captivating planets, will be par for the course. When mysterious portals appear you will find yourself on a collision course with sinister truths that lie unseen behind the universe.

A reboot is highly anticipated

Dreams Uncorporated has a unique vision that transforms Lunar Lander into a game with a meaningful back story and deep, modern gameplay,” said Atari CEO Wade Rosen. “We could not be more enthusiastic about the creativity and craftsmanship that they are bringing to such an iconic Atari property.”

Lunar Lander: Beyond plans to takeoff in the first half of 2024. It’ll release on Windows PC via Steam and Epic, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Series X|S. Strangely, there’s no sign of any Atari VCS love.
