After an action-packed Championship Sunday featuring the three biggest brands in the CDL, the LA Thieves won Call of Duty League Major 4.

LA Thieves came into the weekend looking to become the first ever team to win a championship the season after winning Call of Duty Champs. They fell just short in Major 2 to rivals Atlanta FaZe, and after a disappointing Major 3 finish, the reigning CDL World Champions had everything to prove.

A 4-1 record in Stage 4 Qualifiers secured LA Thieves the second seed heading into the tournament. With three of their four players in the Top 10 Overall KD across the entire league, the LA Thieves were in prime position to repeat history and once again win Major 4.

LA Thieves defeated Minnesota Rokkr and Atlanta FaZe to make Winners Finals, where they met OpTic Texas. Despite recently losing to OpTic in online qualifiers, LA Thieves handed the Green Wall their first loss of Stage 4, ending OpTic’s record-tying Hardpoint win streak at 11 consecutive maps.

Unsurprisingly, the two teams met again in Grand Finals to battle it out in a best of seven series. Each team took a Hardpoint and a Search and Destroy map, but the big swing were the two Controls. LA Thieves won the Himmelmatt Expo 3-1, and then closed out the match with a Round 5 Offense win on El Asilo.

Sam “Octane” Larew was crowned MVP after having an unbelievable stage. Not only did he finish Major 4 with a 1.16 overall KD, but his elite comms helped propel his team to victory over a previously undefeated OpTic Texas.

Just like last year, the LA Thieves seem to be peaking at the right time. Kenneth “Kenny” Williams even promised that the team has not reached their final form yet in his post-victory interview. As Major 5 and Champs loom closer, the LA Thieves look like the team to beat.
