A Jetstar A320 was temporarily pulled from service after a ute collided with it at Sydney Airport on Monday morning.
VH-VGJ (similar aircraft pictured), which was not carrying passengers, was being towed to gate 4 when the Mitsubishi Triton driven by an airport security contractor employee crashed into its right engine at approximately 5:30am, smashing the ute’s windscreen and trapping the driver until emergency services freed them.
Nobody was seriously injured in the incident, with the driver taken to Prince of Wales hospital for further assessment.

“There were no injuries and the aircraft is currently undergoing precautionary engineering checks,” said a spokesperson from Sydney Airport.
A Jetstar spokesperson said the airline is “working with Sydney Airport to fully investigate what happened”.
Services that the plane had been slated to fly on Monday were cancelled, with passengers transferred to alternative same-day flights, and three other planes were delayed, having been stuck behind the A320 at the time of the crash.
A total of six flights to the Melbourne, the Gold Coast, and Adelaide were cancelled on Monday morning due to the incident.
