Jamshedpur: Police seize 810 kg marijuana from UP-bound trailer – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

Seraikela, Oct 14: The Seraikela-Kharsawan District Police intercepted and seized  810 kg of marijuana from a trailer heading from Odisha to Uttar Pradesh.

The operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals involved in smuggling the stuff, while the potential smugglers trailing the trailer in a Scorpio managed to escape.

Superintendent of Police, Dr. Vimal Kumar shared details  at a press conference. The operation was executed based on a tip-off received by the police.

On Friday night , a police team led by Chandil SDPO Sanjay Singh set up a checkpoint on the Nagasoren main road, situated along NH 33. As the officers saw a trailer approaching at high speed, they promptly signaled the driver to halt. The driver complied. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when two individuals swiftly disembarked from the trailer and attempted to flee on foot. The police swiftly pursued and apprehended the suspects.

Upon inspecting the trailer, law enforcement discovered 810 kg of marijuana concealed in 27 plastic bags. mThe two apprehended suspects were  identified as Wahid Khan, from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, and Karan Kumar Gupta, a resident of Katras in Dhanbad.
