Flight 6E 6654 was flying from Lucknow (India) to Bengaluru (India) when it suffered from cabin depressurisation. Subsequently, the crew declared an emergency and proceeded to land at Kempegowda International Airport (Bengaluru). The aircraft involved in this incident was an Airbus A320neo registered as VT-ITM, delivered to IndiGo in November 2016. The aircraft is just 4.5 years old.

It was 240km away from the airport when the emergency occurred, at an altitude of 11,000ft. The crew declared “MAYDAY” as per the protocol. The aircraft descended to 10,000ft which was the lowest safest altitude.

130km before landing, the aircraft declared “ops normal” sources told The Times of India.

“A320 operating flight 6E-6654 from Lucknow to Bangalore did a priority landing at Bangalore. The pilot observed a caution message related to the air-conditioning system. The pilot followed his standard operating procedures. The aircraft is currently being inspected by the technical team at Bengaluru,” a spokesperson said, as quoted by India’s Business Today.

Once the aircraft landed safely it was taken out of service for investigation by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation India (DGCA). All passengers on board the flight were unhurt. The aircraft returned to service today, first operating to Chenna and then to Patna from Bengaluru.
