The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a massive amount of different types of armor you can wear throughout the game. These can range from simple armor pieces that only raise your defense, to armor pieces that have different resistances to heat or cold, and more. One of the more sought after armor pieces in the game is the Champion’s Leathers, which is the new and improved Champion’s Tunic from Breath of the Wild, and it’s the chest piece Link wears in the promotional material and box art. Like many other armor pieces in the game, you can upgrade the Champion’s Leathers. Here’s our guide on how to upgrade the Champion’s Leathers in Tears of the Kingdom.

How to upgrade Champion’s Leathers in Tears of the Kingdom

The first step to upgrading the Champion’s Leathers, and any armor in the game, is to unlock at least one Great Fairy Fountain, then actually acquire the Champion’s Leathers. You can find a guide on how to do that here on the site. Let’s go over the upgrade materials that you need to get to upgrade the Champion’s Leathers all the way to its fourth and final upgrade.

First upgrade

  • 3 x Silent Princess
  • 2 x Light Dragon’s Scale
  • 10 x Rupees

Second upgrade

  • 3 x Silent Princess
  • 2 x Light Dragon’s Talon
  • 10 x Sundelion
  • 50 x Rupees

Third upgrade

  • 5 x Silent Princess
  • 2 x Shard of Light Dragon’s Fang
  • 15 x Sundelion
  • 200 x Rupees

Fourth upgrade

  • 10 x Silent Princess
  • 2 x Light Dragon’s Horn
  • 20 x Sundelion
  • 500 x Rupees

The main ingredients for upgrading the Champion’s Leathers are Silent Princess flowers, parts of the Light Dragon, and Sundelions. These are all pretty easily found around the open world of Hyrule, and the Light Dragon parts are pretty easy to get once you know where the Light Dragon is. We have guides on a lot of the items you need for this endeavor. For Sundelions in particular, they’re very easy to find in the sky islands above Hyrule.
