Starfield features such a dangerous galaxy that you’re not likely to explore its outer reaches without acquiring some advanced weaponry. There are laser cutters, shotguns, sniper rifles and more, but you’ll find some of the gear is extra special, such as a pistol known as the Deadeye. Here is our guide telling you how to get the Deadeye in Starfield.

Starfield – how to get the Deadeye

The Deadeye is a pistol favored by the law enforcement officers working for the Freestar Collective Rangers. You might say it goes with the territory. To get the Deadeye, you must complete the first portion of the Deputized faction mission.

If you haven’t done so already, pay a visit to Akila City. It’s available starting pretty early in the game. You’ll find it on the planet Akila within the Cheyenne system, to the upper right from the Alpha Centauri system on the Starmap. Head there and make your way through town, which causes you to witness a scene outside the bank.

Becoming a deputy

Complete the Job Gone Wrong mission. You do so by following up on the hostage standoff outside the bank. When you achieve the desired result, the Deputized mission activates. Next, you should visit The Rock and talk to Emma Wilcox. She is seated at a table on the ground floor.

Accept a mission from the Freestar Rangers Mission Board. It’s located in the same room. There should be several options. Complete one of them to satisfy Emma. Once you do that, she accompanies you as you head upstairs to talk to Marshal Blake. You receive the Deadeye at that time, along with a uniform, ammo, and a badge. There’s still a lot of the mission left to complete, but you’ve done what you need to do to claim the real prize.

Modifying the Deadeye

The Deadeye is a capable weapon, right out of the box. It comes with a Laser Sight and Penetrator Rounds. You can purchase 7.5MM ammo to keep it in the action. If you have a properly upgraded Weapon Workbench, you can make modifications with a few different mods:

Modification Type Effect
Short Barrel Barrel Increases Aim Down Sight speed at the cost of Accuracy and Recoil Control.
Recon Scope Optic Marks enemies while Aiming.
Reflex Sight Optic Reflex sights for quicker target acquisition and visibility.
Short Scope Optic Short scope for 2x magnified view.
Compensator Muzzle Increases Stability and Hip-Fire accuracy at the cost of long-range Accuracy.
Muzzle Brake Muzzle Increases long-range Accuracy and Stability at the cost of Hip-Fire accuracy.
Suppressor Muzzle Vastly reduces acoustic intensity while increasing Accuracy at the cost of Range.
Tactical Grip Grip A lighter grip that increases Aim Down Sight speed, Reload speed, and Stability.
Armor-Piercing Rounds Magazine More powerful casing can penetrate even the sturdiest armors.
Depleted Uranium Rounds Magazine Built using depleted Uranium, these rounds can penetrate any armor.
Standard Whitehot Rounds Magazine Standard chemically-tipped rounds that burn on contact.
Hair Trigger Internal Installs a lighter trigger pull for increased Fire Rate.
High Powered Internal Increases Damage done.
High Velocity Internal Internal module that increases accuracy and range.
Binary Trigger Receiver A binary trigger allows for the weapon to fire on pull and release of the trigger for a faster fire rate.

You can’t make all of the above modifications at once, of course. However, the weapon is fairly easy to customize to suit your particular play style. I still spend most of my time using the Cutter, but otherwise, I’d probably be rocking a modified Deadeye.
