For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow: Xilinx’s Dr. Gamal Refai-Ahmed Named IEEE Fellow

We are proud to announce Xilinx’s Dr. Gamal Refai-Ahmed has been named one of the newest Fellows by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Board of Directors. Becoming a fellow is IEEE’s highest accolade and it is recognized as a prestigious honor by the technical community.

Gamal.jpgGamal is a chief thermo-mechanical architect and also a Xilinx Fellow. The IEEE Board selected Gamal because of his leadership in thermal management of electronics product development. This year’s IEEE Fellow list saw close to 1,000 nominations. A distinguished committee evaluated each candidate based on their contribution to the advancement or application of engineering, science, and technology, to bring significant value to our society.

Gamal is well-known throughout the industry, and the IEEE recognition adds to his illustrious list of titles. He is a Life Fellow for the American Society of Mechanical Engineering, and a Canadian Academy of Engineering Fellow. Gamal has also won numerous academic and industrial honors, including the 2019 SUNY Binghamton Presidential Award, 2014 IEEE Canada R.H. Tanner Industry Leadership Silver Medal, and 2013 ASME Calvin Rice Award.
