In a press release, Fisker announces that the first customer has taken delivery of the brand-new Fisker Ocean all-electric SUV.

It has been 10 years since Henrik Fisker’s first attempts to conquer a piece of the electrified future had to fold, and just 2 years after several celebrities including Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik acquired the costly limited edition model Fisker Karma. But kudos to Mr. Fisker for not giving up, and this time not with a hybrid design, but fully electric, as he alluded to in an exclusive interview with CleanTechnica back in 2018.

The owner received their vehicle from Fisker Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker at the recently opened Fisker Center+ facility in Copenhagen, Denmark. It’s a limited Ocean One launch edition model.

“I’m super excited to be in Copenhagen to hand over the first Fisker Ocean,” said Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker. Fisker claims the Ocean One and extreme-specification models offer the highest driving range of any battery-electric SUV currently available on the European market, delivering 707 km confirmed WLTP range which could translate to more than 400 miles of EPA range — TBD.

The electric vehicle market is all ablaze right now, and it’s obvious that it will be hard for any EV startup to achieve profitability, but Fisker might have a good shot at it, since it has been hard at work preparing supply chain structures and manufacturing partnerships (with Magna Steyr). Furthermore, last but not least, it has put in the do-or-die work of securing of battery supply (with CATL).

According to Fisker’s online configurator, prices will range from $37,499 to $76,199 depending on model and trim choice. Fisker expects production to ramp to meaningful numbers this year, and my guess is that prices will probably be subject to change in the current market. In any case, the Fisker brand is a welcome fresh player in the market, and hopefully it will be successful.

I don’t like paywalls. You don’t like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don’t like paywalls, and so we’ve decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It’s a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So …
