Final Fantasy 16: How to Defeat Behemoth

Behemoth is a boss in Final Fantasy 16 that players will have to face in the main quest “Streets of Madness”, after defeating Aurum Giant. As usual, we advise you to follow a very specific and effective strategy to complete this battle. For this reason, we decided to create this article to give you useful tips on how to defeat Behemoth.

Location, rewards, and abilities

As we already mentioned in the introduction to this article, Behemoth can be encountered in the main quest “Streets of Madness”. After defeating this boss, players will get rewards as thanks for their hard work. Among these rewards are 4000 XP, 250 AP, and 4000 Gil, as well as the items Wyrrite, Sharp Fang, and Behemoth Shackle.

However, as we have already advised you for the other bosses, you absolutely must not take Behemoth lightly because he can put you in serious difficulty. For this reason, the most important thing to do is to follow the right strategy to defeat the boss and emerge victorious from this battle. Furthermore, as with almost all of the bosses in the game, this second version of Barnabas also has special abilities to use in combat. These skills include Ecliptic Meteor, Maelstrom, Comet, Meteor, and Extinction.

How to defeat Behemoth

The Behemoth frequently starts the fight by pouncing, which involves it crouching down before springing up into the air and arcing toward you. Wait until the boss springs at you before making a dodge in order to avoid being caught off guard. One thing to keep in mind is that you don’t have to make a dodge as the Behemoth is crouching. It can also slice you with one of its paws or bash you with the other by bringing a paw down vertically from above. These two offer little harm in the present as long as you stay moving and time your dodges backward or to the side as needed because they have very short ranges.

When its eyes light up, the Behemoth will occasionally dart to the edge of the arena, bend over, and start summoning little comets from portals above him. These comets will explode slightly when they make impact with the ground, but they won’t produce any shockwaves. You’ll be fine as long as you keep moving.

Switch to Garuda after the Behemoth begins to stumble, then use her Eikonic Feat Deadly Embrace to perform a Deadly Takedown. This will cause the boss to take more damage (as if it were genuinely stunned) for a short period of time, during which you can utilize your most powerful strikes or lower the boss’s Will gauge.

Behemoth’s abilities

The location where Clive was when the Behemoth’s Comet attack was cast will be affected. This attack is easier to avoid because you can just move away from the indicated area, but the Comet will produce a shockwave from the point of impact that you won’t be able to dodge with a quick hop. You can either throw yourself into the air using Deadly Embrace to avoid it or just move out of the way of the shockwave. Keep an eye on these as well because the Behemoth will perform slam attacks in the last stages of the boss encounter while three successive comets fall.

Your movements will be slowly followed by the Maelstrom the boss produced. Run quickly to the edge of the arena if you were too close to the boss when this move began so that you can dodge it. If not, dash up to the boss and make an attack. A comet shower attack known as a meteor will surround the arena in a wide ring. If you’re inside the ring, comets will be able to follow your every move, which will limit your ability to dodge. Wait for them to go out before continuing your attack because the comets’ landing sites will also be left on fire.

As a final resort, the Behemoth will call down a huge meteor akin to the Ecliptic Meteor using Extinction. Only one of you will pass away in this situation. Get out of its sphere of effect as soon as possible by using Cold Snap or, if using the Behemoth, by employing Phoenix Shift to move closer to the circle’s perimeter.
