ESL Open Week #180: NightMare, ShoWTimE, Clem win

Week #180 of the ESL Open Cups was played over the ESL Masters Summer weekend, limiting participation and producing some unusual results.

The Korean/Asian server cup was the most heavily affected by Masters Summer, with most of the usual title contenders tied up in Sweden. That left the door open for NightMare to take the cup, beating Firefly in the finals.

The European server cup was better attended, but still missed a number of notable regulars. The weekly title ultimately went to ShoWTimE, who defeated MaxPax 3-2 in the finals. The thinned out player pool allowed for a few surprises, such as Deca and BabyMarine making the top eight, and Guru reaching the final four.

Finally, Clem took the American cup, handing MaxPax his second runner-up finish on the week. eGGz was the beneficiary of reduced participation, making a run into the final four.

In non-ESL weeklies, soO came out on top in the lightly attended KSL. Wednesday's Kung Fu Cup saw players return to a relatively normal competitive rhythm, and Solar took first place with wins over Classic, Cure, Creator, and Clem.
