ESL Open Week #151: Dark, Lambo, ByuN win

Source Node: 1779370

Week #151 saw participation go back to normal following DreamHack: Atlanta, but the results still ended up being somewhat out of the ordinary.

(Wiki)Dark won the Korean cup for the second week in a row, continuing to make up for the many early eliminations he suffered in prior months. However, the real star of the cup was (Wiki)Firefly, who defeated GuMiho, Solar, and Classic to get all the way to the finals. While he did lose 1-3 to Dark in the end, it was still a fantastic individual result for one of the World Team League's breakout players.

The European cup is typically contested between the same handful of players each week, but week #151 saw (Wiki)Lambo come out as the surprise winner. It marked Lambo's third ever Open Cup win, with his last victory having come in week #85 (August of 2021). Lambo achieved this by running through a tough gauntlet of opponents, beating Elazer, Clem, and then MaxPax in the last three rounds of the cup.

The week concluded with the American server cup delivering a rather typical ESL weeklies result, with (Wiki)ByuN beating out (Wiki)MaxPax to win this week's title. The duo have already faced off in four cup finals this year, with ByuN currently leading 3-1 in those head-to-heads.
