Imports of fully electric vehicles have more than doubled in value, according to new data from Stats NZ.
Imports of all kinds of reduced emission vehicles rose during the 12 months to March, with EV imports increasing the most – by 127%, to $1.23 billion. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and the less common plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) increased 79% (to $1.12 billion) and 123% (to $176 million), respectively.
