To nobody’s great surprise, E3 2021 is going virtual.
What is a little surprising is that E3’s still around. After the organisation behind it, the Entertainment Software Association, made journalists private information publicly available, we thought there’d be a bigger, company-threatening fallout, potentially involving multiple lawsuits. Strangely, legal action never really materialised; E3 2020 was cancelled for pandemic-related reasons but E3 2021 is back as a virtual event.
E3 2021 is set to take place between the 12th and 15th of June. So far, Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games and Koch Media have committed to the show; Sony parted ways with E3 a little while back and instead have held their own Playstation reveals. E3 2022 will, apparently, be a physical event once more.

What we’re curious about is how E3 will handle small demos; one of the trademarks of E3 is that, while there’s a lot shown to the public, there are typically more intimate closed door events. Journalists who attend these events may be allowed to write up their findings, sitting down as a game is demoed to a small group, but the actual footage of the demo they played may kept private.
However, the ESA is going to handle things, E3 is set to go live between June 12th and June 15. As soon as we learn how you can watch the event, or events, we’ll let you now.
