Don’t miss The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s after-credits scene this week

The penultimate episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, “Truth”, slows down a bit to give every character time to think about what they really want before next week’s big finale. There’s one character, however, whose big decision you’ll miss entirely if you don’t stick around after the credits.

[Ed. note: This piece contains spoilers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier through episode 5.]

When we last see John Walker, the disgraced Captain America, he’s stripped of his job and left with no prospects other than an ambiguous job offer from the mysterious Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus!) and a business card with nothing on it.

In the post-credits scene, however, we see that Walker isn’t idly waiting for that call — he’s busy building a shield of his own, after Cap’s shield was taken from him by Sam Wilson. It, specifically, looks like he’s building the MCU version of the U.S.Agent shield, the character John Walker becomes in the comics after he loses the mantle of Captain America — something that usually doesn’t go well.

Whether or not John Walker will become an outright villain or troubled super soldier remains to be seen — as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier reminds us several times in this week’s episode, the Flag Smashers are still out there, ready to do something big.
