Downtown Doug Brown looks at a Brother FAX-2840 fax machine/laser printer. It still worked fine as a fax machine or copy machine, but it couldn’t print to a Windows 10 computer via USB.

Windows would not recognize the hardware even with the correct driver, “unable to enumerate device”. Tearing it down, the D+ line was not reaching 0 volts per the USB spec.
