Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Can an amazing update or two make up for an otherwise average slate? I’ll leave answering that question up you. My job is simply to gather them up and drop them in front of you, like a cat leaving a dead bird on the welcome mat. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

TMNT Splintered Fate,

Somehow this is the only big Apple Arcade exclusive update that I’m including this week. These things happen. The latest version of TMNT Splintered Fate is all about pushing those numbers. Two new Turtle Powers. What would a ‘Turtle Power’ be? Hiding in your shell? Moving very slowly on land? Eating dry shrimp? Best not to overthink. There are also two new Dragon Upgrades, so go ahead and upgrade those dragons. Finally, one new Shimmering Portal. I feel like The Count over here. Where’s the lightning? Oh, I forgot: two! Two new achievements! Ah ah ah! There’s the lightning.

Tiny Tower: 8 Bit Retro Tycoon, Free

Well, it’s not quite too late yet, but hopefully anyone interested in Tiny Tower‘s annual Fourth of July event noticed this update before today. If not? You still have a day or two to reap some rewards by collecting fireworks and spinning the lucky wheel. You can also collect some America-themed Bitizens and drop some Bux on a new tower decoration set. It would be cool if they could do a Canada Day event one of these years. Maybe next year.

Jetpack Joyride, Free

Jetpack Joyride time again, and once again it’s a returning event. Unless I’m misremembering, which is a very real possibility most days. Anyway, it’s a Fruit Ninja event. The Sensei Costume and Fruit Jetpack are up for grabs, so get out there and start grabbing whatever goober you need to get seven thousand of in order to unlock the event goodies. Or pay money. Whichever works for you.

Dead Cells, $4.99

Do note that this update also arrived for the Apple Arcade + version. Also note that this is obviously the winner of the coveted UMMSotN award for this week. You see, this update sees the Return to Castlevania DLC come to the game. If you like Castlevania, you’ve got to play this. If you like Dead Cells, you’ve got to play this. It must have been hard to thread the needle between the two different game types and atmospheres, but the developers nailed it.

June’s Journey: Murder Mystery, Free

Sure, I imagine there isn’t a lot of overlap between the fan bases of Dead Cells and June’s Journey. But just like the spread shot ruled the Contra arsenal, I have to believe in spreading the love with these update articles. This update to June’s Journey introduces new Detective Club Mysteries, little mini mysteries that you can solve with your Detective Club in order to reap some rewards. Well, it’s always nice to have other things to do.

Royal Match, Free

Is it time for the obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game update for this week? Yes, I think it is. I’m going with Royal Match, which added a massive one hundred levels to play, plus a whole new area to explore in the form of the Tennis Court. I mean, of course King Robert would have a tennis court. Judging by the ads I see while playing other games, he’ll probably end up strangling himself in the net. Godspeed, King Robert.

Merge Mansion, Free

Yes, I’m throwing Merge Mansion in here too. What can I say, I can’t get enough of those ads with Pedro Pascal! Ha, not really. But it’s an amusing game and I sure can’t argue with its marketing. This new update adds a new area in the form of Heikki’s Sauna, a new special event called Joys of the Sea, and a few other bits and bobs. Will any of this help you uncover the many secrets Grandma is keeping? No. No, it won’t. That the carrot and we’re never getting a bite.

Devolver Tumble Time, Free

I feel like I’ve covered enough updates for Devolver Tumble Time to get a feel for what the average update to Devolver Tumble Time looks like, and what it mainly comes down to is more characters being tossed in the tumbler. This time it’s a few characters from Red Strings Club, including Brandeis, Donovan, and Akara-184. Unlock them and make use of their unique abilities to give yourself the edge. The tumbling edge. That’s a weird thing to imagine.

Brawl Stars, Free

I don’t keep a firm eye on this game, but has a nice update every few months and this one isn’t going to break that pattern. There are two new Brawlers, Cordelius (Chromatic) and Doug (Mythic). Doug? Sure, that sounds like a scrapper. Do it, Dougie! There are some new features here, such as the Starr Drops that give you daily random rewards, and some “Welcome Back” experience for returning players to get them back on the proverbial horse. There are also some improvements to quests, along with the usual bug fixes and other tweaks.

Honkai Impact 3rd, Free

A Honkai, but maybe not the Honkai that is most exciting at the moment. An Impact, but certainly not the Impact that rocked the world of mobile gaming. A 3rd, but… I’ve got nothing for that one. Here’s an update for Honkai Impact 3rd to play us out for this week. There’s a new SP battlesuit called Sugary Starburst, some new summer outfits to earn, a new story to play through, and a new event to join. Naturally, there is some new equipment to collect as well. A very standard update for this long-running game.

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
