Apparently jumping the gun, a trailer for an unannounced Five Nights at Freddy's game has leaked and been confirmed to be real by franchise creator Scott Cawthon. It's a creepy-looking 16-bit adventure game featuring gorgeous pixel art, apparently based on Into the Pit, a collection of novellas co-written by Cawthon and set in the FNAF universe.

Important details like platform and release date remain scarce, but the trailer itself surfaced on the FNAF subreddit after apparently leaking ahead of an impending announcement. In a surprise twist, Cawthon himself popped up and confirmed the game was real, encouraging fans to share the trailer and get excited: "No need to keep it all hush-hush. It's okay! Yes, I was trying to keep it a secret for a bit longer, but now that it's out, that's fine. This game has been in development for a really long time, actually, and I'm really proud of the final product. It will be a 10th-anniversary game!"

Even better, the developer has been revealed to be Mega Cat Studios, the team behind 2023's WrestleQuest, explaining where that gorgeous pixel art aesthetic came from. What do you think of the surprise reveal of Five Nights at Freddy's: Into the Pit? Does it look like a spooky journey worth taking? Run and hide in the comments section below.
