Delivering on our vision of the metaverse as the future of work and computing means making sure you have access to the tools you need to get the job done. In that spirit, we’re excited for today’s release of Unity Reflect Review on Meta Quest 2!

Need to figure out the optimal location for your front door? Or see how the afternoon light will illuminate the office? Unity Reflect Review renders BIM models (created in SketchUp, Revit, and so on) to enable engineers, architects, and building owners to envision and collaborate on the design of forthcoming spaces—before construction begins and those decisions are set in stone.

There’s something about being in an environment though, right? It’s different from seeing it on a screen. Unity Reflect Review is a different and more immersive experience on Meta Quest 2, enabling people to walk around and truly experience what it’s like being inside a building from its earliest stages. Better context means better decisions.

Don’t worry though—the Meta Quest 2 version of Unity Reflect Review is cross-compatible with existing platforms, so you can meet with up to 25 people in one session, spread across VR, desktop, and mobile. You can gather feedback via annotations, or check out what others are seeing via shared camera views. Being able to drop into a project in VR should enhance your workflow, not isolate you. Plus, it’s even easier to get going given the standalone nature of Meta Quest 2. Just grab the headset off your desk, slip it on, and you’re ready to go.

Norconsult is designing a new water treatment project, transferring data from Navisworks and BIM360 to Unity Reflect Review—on Meta Quest 2. “Unity Reflect Review on Meta Quest 2 is a true game changer,” said Marius Jablonskis, Digital Transformation Leader at Norconsult. “VR was great before, but it wasn’t for everyone. Hardware-heavy processes, cables, tracking stations, preprocessing data, exporting and packing and updating it—VR was an exclusive club for the especially interested. Unity and Meta eliminated all those bottlenecks.”

“It’s 50 percent faster, 75 percent more intuitive, and made us 100 percent happier,” said Jablonskis. You can read more about Norconsult’s work with Unity Reflect Review on the Unity Blog.
