Chinese officials announced June 9 that the country will host the inaugural China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing from November 28 to December 2, 2023.

According to Global Times, roughly 100 companies have signed up for the event to date. Moreover, U.S. enterprises confirmed to be going are expected to represent the expo’s largest group among foreign multinationals.

During a June 9 press briefing, Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) — the expo’s organizer — said that the conference will focus on five major supply chains including smart vehicles, green agriculture, healthy living, clean energy and digital technology.

“The U.S. companies I talk with are very pragmatic and are looking to seize this rare opportunity. Many U.S. firms said that they need to restructure their global supply chains after three years of COVID disruption, and it is impossible to neglect Chinese markets and Chinese companies [during the process]. This also shows that the expo comes at just the right time,” said Lin Shunjie, chairman of the China International Exhibition Center Group, the entity co-organizing the event.

Over 300 companies are expected to attend the expo with 30% being international exhibitors, according to Ren Hongbin. He also said the number of attendees will reportedly exceed 100,000 people.
