Charity – Cheese Out Cancer

Cancer is a terrible disease. Many if not most people know a friend or family member who has been afflicted by it, if not more than one. My best friend in high school had cancer, my dad has multiple forms of cancer, and I have relatives and friends who have battled and lost against cancer. Cancer has even taken some of one of our most beloved members in our scene, Totalbiscuit.

F*** cancer

June 23rd marks the 10 year anniversary of when I first tried commentating a game of StarCraft 2 and began my journey of being sucked into this universe. I wanted to do something meaningful for it so I decided host an event to raise money to combat cancer.

The Charity

The Prevent Cancer Foundation is a well respected organization that is supported by many others including AGDQ(Awesome Games Done Quick) and was an easy choice. Any StarCraft 2 player knows the best way to beat some of the most difficult armies like skytoss or brood-lord infestor…is to not let them get there. The Prevent Cancer Foundation dedicates resources to cancer prevention and I couldn’t think of a better way to cheese out cancer before it gets to its horrible late game.

The Event

So what is the event exactly? I’ll be hosting and casting 5 Best of 5 showmatches with some of our scene’s best players while casting with some our scene’s finest commentators. Players will play for $200 with the winner taking $150 and the loser taking $50.

I will match all donations up to $10,000.
That means we raise $10,000, I will double it to $20,000 total.
You will be able to contribute to the charity through the following link.

Amazing initiative. Fuck Cancer!

People thinking they knew exactly what they want, most of the time have no idea what they can get.

You’re amazing, for this event and for the last ten years.

SC2 is the best game to watch and was the best to play before I grew old and slow…

Would have been fun if they picked the more cheesy style players considering the name. But good initiative anyways

Winners: It is difficult, but it’s possible.

Would be nice if ShoWTimE throws out a cannon rush or 2 and HeRoMaRinE plays proxy rax

Are there stretch goals? Players earning extra cash for doing cheesy/weird stuff?

Also, why isn’t this thread exploding with hype?
