Faze attended their second Major Grand Final of the season, looking to cement themselves as a dynasty. But nobody expected their opponent to be Toronto Ultra.
The full European team took down Optic, Empire and Rokkr on their way to the Grand Final. Three of the four members of Ultra were playing for their first Championship victory, but it was Bance, part of the last European team to win a Major, who stole the show. After contemplating retirement, Benjamin Bance put his head down and helped his team do the unthinkable, earning himself the Major II MVP for his performances.
Atlanta Faze’s reign of terror has now ended for the meantime, but can Ultra keep this form up?
The biggest upset of the tournament was undoubtedly in the Losers Round four match between Optic and Rokkr.
Scump and his men, who surprisingly dropped down to the Losers bracket after falling to eventual winners Ultra, had a fierce battle with the rejuvenated Minnesota squad, which went all the way to game five. After killing three members of Rokkr in round eleven, the final three members of Optic were stacked up in the corner, giving Accuracy the easiest triple kill of his life to send his team to the next round.
Cue the crazy reactions on social media.
