CAR-LITE and Sigfox launch Intelligent Light

IoT communication service provider Sigfox and the Spanish manufacturer of emergency signaling beacons for cars CAR-LITE launched a smart beacon model base on IoT technology and Sigfox’s 0G network.Intelligent Light

The beacon was designed and developed by CAR-LITE. Its technology can send automatic alerts to the relevant road safety authorities with precise information on the location of damaged vehicles. No internet-connection Wi-Fi or SIM card is needed, as the system is based on Sigfox 0G IoT-network that is already present in 75 countries worldwide. Both companies will collaborate to launch the product throughout Europe. This solution will allow public and assistance services to be alerted so that they can react more quickly to emergencies and warn other drivers by means of real-time road signs.
The beacon allows to geolocate damaged vehicles by GPS in real time and in a very efficient way, providing valuable and actionable information to road safety authorities throughout Europe, infrastructure management companies, freight transport or traffic control authorities, speeding up the management and resolution of the incident and accidents.^

The beacon is battery operated to ensure independence from a rechargeable battery. It may be compatible with the connected car platforms of various competent authorities in each country. As it is specifically designed for the Internet of Things, its data and energy consumption are very low. The cost of communications is independent of the country where the beacon is used.
The small round beacon emits a light visible up to one kilometer away when attached to the roof of the damaged car. It can be placed without leaving the vehicle, which is safer than traditional warning triangles.
