BTCpay Server and Bitcoin Design have collaborated on a project that aims to raise 1 BTC to provide dental checkups for 50 lucky recipients. This dental project was fittingly called ”Bitcoin Smiles.”

Almost two decades ago, dentist Enrique Berrios visited El Zonte for his dental internship, but little did he know that he would stay there for a long time.

Unlike other dentists who are aiming to start their careers in big cities, Berrios chose the opposite and decided to settle in El Zonte to provide much-needed dental services for its residents.

One of the major things that encouraged him to settle In El Zonte long-term is that the dental health of the elderly residents there was neglected, which can pose dangers to their health.

Making their dreams come true

The residents in El Zonte, especially the elderly, have one simple dream, and that is to avail themselves of dental care services and much-needed dentures. And Berrios’ arrival in the place is, without a doubt, a clear sign that their simple dream can finally come true.

“We are trying to focus on people that really need the help and it’s a lot of elderly people. As I said, they are forgotten and are by themselves in these rural areas,” Barrios said.

The elderly’s dream is not only a dream but a real necessity. Most residents in El Zonte have serious dental problems which include rotten and loose teeth, which makes it difficult for them to eat.

Providing smiles through Bitcoin

Berrios said that all his project’s proceeds will go straight to the dental health of El Zonte residents. He also said that if he exceeds his 1 BTC goal, the excess proceeds will be used to purchase portable equipment that will help him provide dental assistance in isolated areas.
