This is aimed at driving positive social change and engaging fans in philanthropic endeavors.

Binance Charity, a leading philanthropic organization that leverages blockchain technology for charitable causes has disclosed its collaboration with a prestigious football club based in Italy, S.S.Lazio to launch an innovative Fan Token donation program.

According to an official announcement today, the unique initiative which merges philanthropy, fan engagement, and blockchain technology will allow fans to actively participate in selecting the “Player of the Month” (POTM), with substantial charitable donations worth $100,000 at stake. This pioneering initiative is set to drive fan engagement forward within the ecosystem as Binance users become the key decision-makers in selecting the “Player of the Month” (POTM).

Within the Binance Fan Token ecosystem, supporters of S.S. Lazio gained new avenues to support their favorite players and team. Through the Binance POTM program, fans can vote for their preferred players and reward them with Binance Fan Tokens. Whether on a monthly, weekly, or season-long basis, fans have the power to determine the POTM.

Interestingly, the charitable initiative calls for a remarkable impact which lies in the potential for social change thereby taking the POTM concept further. The player who accumulates the most POTM titles throughout the season will donate the entirety of their $65,000 winnings to a charity of their choice. The runner-up, receiving $35,000, will also contribute their entire winnings to a charitable cause.

The interactive nature of this approach showcases the transformative potential of crypto Fan Tokens, engaging fans and fostering stronger connections between the club, its supporters, and the charitable endeavors they champion. By giving fans the opportunity to actively participate in decision-making and contribute to philanthropy, the collaboration aims to revolutionize traditional philanthropic efforts.

“Through initiatives like the Binance Fan Token charity event, we are harnessing the potential of crypto to create positive social impact and drive change.”

POTM’s Benefactors: Binance Charity’s Tree Millions, Earthquake Appeal, and Fight Hunger Worldwide Project

Ciro Immobile, announced as the first winner of the POTM fundraiser, has pledged to donate his entire $65,000 winnings to Binance Charity’s Tree Millions initiative. This project, launched in 2021, focuses on combating deforestation, a major driver of climate change. With over 295,000 trees already planted across 27 countries, the $65,000 donation will support reforestation efforts in Italy, benefiting local communities and the environment.

Also, Felipe Anderson, the runner-up in the POTM contest, will donate his complete $35,000 winnings to Binance Charity’s Earthquake Appeal. This initiative, in partnership with Mercy Corps and Kizilay, aims to assist those affected by a devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria earlier this year, helping them rebuild their lives.
Additionally, S.S. Lazio players have also sought to contribute to the POTM fundraising campaign. Hence, they have initiated an auction of football shirts to raise funds for Binance Charity’s Fight Hunger Worldwide project. This project has made a significant impact by providing food distribution projects in Morocco, Sri Lanka, France, Nigeria, and Malaysia, feeding nearly 22,000 people to date. Proceeds from the sale of S.S. Lazio football shirts will contribute to a food drive for underprivileged communities in Italy during the summer.
