You need to spend a lot of time mining in Palworld in order to gather the materials needed to craft the best gear. Pals will make use of nearby resource nodes when working at your base, so building a base near stone, ore, and coal deposits is a must.

How to Unlock More Palworld Bases

While you initially begin Palworld with only one base, you can unlock the ability to establish a second and third base with their own Palboxes after a few hours of playtime. To unlock your second Palworld base, you need to upgrade your starting base to level 10. The third base is unlocked after reaching base level 15. To improve your base, you’ll need to build bigger and better items to meet the level-up criteria.

The absolute best mining base location in Palworld is located in the center of the map just below the snowy mountains. You can see its exact location marked on the map above. Here, you’ll find several ore veins, coal deposits, and stone nodes ripe for the picking. There’s a fast travel location just a short distance to the west of this location (near the Vaelet Alpha Pal boss arena) so you should be able to reach it easily if you’ve already explored that part of the map.

Since it’s filled with mining resource nodes, it’s naturally located at the top of a hill. With a flying Pal or a decent mount, however, getting up there shouldn’t be too much of a hassle. It is a fair bit north of the initial starting spawn area, however, so you may need to level up your Pals and craft some decent gear before heading up there to establish a base. It’s well worth the time investment though, since there aren’t any other spots on the map with this much coal and ore.

Remember that you cannot expand your base radius in Palworld, so make sure you place your Palbox in a location that grants you access to all of the nodes in the area. Your Pals won’t harvest from resource nodes that are outside of the glowing blue line that marks your base’s boundaries, so try to get as many of them within your Palbox’s range as possible.

If you aren’t equipped enough to visit that section of the map, then there’s another great mining base location for early-game Palworld players that’s not very far from the initial starting area at all. In the small red zone near Rayne Syndicate Tower, there’s a Desolate Church that looks like it was ripped straight out of Elden Ring. There’s a fast travel point there and a Lifmunk Effigy inside, so you’ll probably want to visit this church at some point anyway.

At the front of the church, there are several huge ore deposits. Building a base here will ensure that you never run out of Ingots and you’ll always be able to craft the best weapons and armor for you and your Pals. While there isn’t any stone or coal, the amount of ore deposits more than makes up for that. It’s also located in a forest, so adding some Lumbering Pals to the mix will get you a steady supply of wood on top of ore.

There are plenty of other spots to establish mining bases in Palworld, but these two locations in particular are the best of the bunch. If you have a ton of extra Pals sitting around in your Palbox after going on a catching spree for those sweet XP bonuses, why not put them to work at a mining camp so you don’t have to do any manual labor yourself?
