8. The Reaper

Rarity: Legendary (Orange)

Cost: Tier 100 on Season 3 Battle Pass (base Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks)

While this skin is not available for purchase, it is still the grandaddy of legendary Fortnite skins. Back in 2018 if you saw a player with this skin, you knew you had to run for the hills. The only way to pick up this John Wick inspired skin was to reach Tier 100 in the original Season 3 Battle Pass. The skill and time required back in the early days of the Battle Royale made this skin one of the most popular and revered skins of all time reserved for the top Fortnite players.

7. Kratos

Rarity: Gaming Legends

Cost: 1500 V-bucks

An absolute classic. Who could forget the countless gifs and memes of the stoic Kratos dancing and jiving to popular Fortnite emotes? Not only does the skin look like a perfect cartoon recreation of the PS4 Kratos, the cosmetic versions of his Leviathan Axe and Guardian Shield also lends a major upgrade to the pickaxe and glider. You can still pick up this skin on the item shop. IT gets listed roughly once every month and a half. You can pick up the skin for 1500 V-Bucks or the full cosmetic bundle for 3300 V-bucks.

6. Tomatohead

Rarity: Epic (Purple)

Cost: 1500 V-Bucks

An unsettling reference to one of the most popular locations in Fortnite. The fast-food joint with the huge rotating tomato became a symbol of Fortnite and Epic decided to pay homage to it with this odd, slightly creepy skin. Not only does it start out creepy, but it also gets weirder with the upgraded version. If you complete certain challenges while wearing the skin, you can receive a makeshift crown with painted markings. What better way to update the skin than to make it look like some sort of True Detective season one villain. If you want to creep out the competition, this skin is still in rotation.

5. Wukong

Rarity: Legendary (Orange)

Cost: 2,000 V-Bucks

Despite this being the beginning of the really expensive skins, this is still one of the best Fortnite skins out there.  This was released in celebration of the Chinese New Year and it shows off some of the best in house design work that Epic has to offer. Based on the classic folktale, this skin is visually striking and just plain cool.

4. Black Panther

Rarity: Marvel

Cost: $24.99

The Black Panther skin was included in the Marvel Royalty and Warriors Pack. It was made up of Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Taskmaster. Plenty of fans have complained about the high price of the bundle but the quality and design of the skins speak for themselves. You get the Kinetic Armor outfit, the Wakandan Skyrider glider, the Vibranium daggers, the King’s Cowl, and most importantly, the Wakanda Forever salute. The ability to perform this iconic salute is almost worth the price of admission alone.

3. Leviathan

Rarity: Legendary (Orange)

Cost: 2,000 V-Bucks

A really unique skin that was added recently. This is a variation on the numerous different astronaut skins that are available in the game. The fishbowl inspired helmet with the angry looking piranha inside is an interesting touch, but the really cool part of this skin is the design and colour of the spacesuit itself, the iridescent colour makes it a flashy but understated skin. It reminds me of a badass version of Minion from Megamind.

2. Blackheart

Rarity: Legendary (Orange)

Cost: Tier 1 on Season 8 Battle Pass

This is included in the list because of its many different variations. It may not be the coolest skin in the beginning. A basic hooded pirate is not all that interesting. However, it has eleven different stages of the skin. Once you hit 80,000 EXP with the Blackheart skin, the face disappears and is replaced with a truly cool and terrifying bearded skull.

Rarity: Gaming Legends

Cost: 1500 V-bucks

It may be my nostalgia and inherent biases showing here, but the absolute best Fortnite skin in the game is Master Chief. I adore the classic Halo games and I love getting the chance to play my favourite character in Fortnite. It comes with the pelican glider and a miniature version of the pelican carrier. The Lil’ Warthog emote is also fantastic.
