B-Stock is so excited to welcome Sefiyetu Abdullah to the Software Engineering team this summer! As a summer teammate, we know Sefiyetu will be an incredible asset to the company. Sefiyetu is currently working towards an MS in Computer Science at Virginia State University. Learn a bit more about Sefiyetu and see her answers to some questions below.
Q: What are you most excited to learn at B-Stock?
How to use Python in a professional context!
Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? (Or still want to be!)
I wanted to be a special effects coordinator for film and television.
Q: What is one piece of advice you’ve been given that has stuck?
Be someone people want to be around, you can learn the skills but if nobody wants to work with you, your talent is worthless.
Q: Where can people find you after work or school?
Building something in my apartment!
Q: What is a hidden talent of yours?
Art! I can paint and woodwork.
Q: What plays in the background while you work (music genre, podcast, news)?
Nothing! I prefer silence honestly.
Q: Where would you go with unlimited PTO?
I would probably sleep all day and make tea.
Q: What do you do when you’re stuck creatively? How do you get the creative juices flowing?
I have learned that relaxing allows your brain to come up with good ideas over time (which is why we get more creative right before going to sleep!)
Q: What’s something you’ve accomplished that you’re proud of?
I graduated with my Mass Comm degree and worked in the film industry in casting before going back to get my Master’s Degree.
Q: What is one thing you hope to contribute to B-Stock?
A positive attitude and hopefully finding ways to make things efficient if necessary
