ASL12 Announced, Qualifier Format Changed

The AfreecaTV StarLeague returns, season 12 is set to start on the 28th of August. This edition sees a change in qualifier format – instead of the usual ‘main qualifier’ granting 12 slots and two auxiliaries awarding 6 tournament spots each, this is the first time we’ll be seeing two qualifiers awarding 12 ASL spots each.

Qualifiers:

Sign-up period: till 11/08 Sign-up form

Qualifier #1 (online): 14/08 (12 slots)
Qualifier #2 (online): 15/08 (12 slots)

Qualifier mappool: Polypoid, Eclipse, Ascension

Tournament schedule:

28/08 (Saturday ~?~) – 07/11, every Sunday + Tuesday @ 1900KST (live from the FreecUP Studio)

Tournament format:

Ro24: Bo1 Double Elimination (grps)
Ro16: Bo1 / Bo3 Double Elimination (grps)
Ro8: Bo5 Single Elimination
Ro4: Bo7 Single Elimination
Third place match: Bo5
Finals: Bo7

Main event mappool: Polypoid, Ascension, Eclipse, Largo, Lemon, Revolver, Good Night [final versions 16/08] (download link)

Is there any other change to the qualifiers except it’s now two tournaments instead of three?

I don’t see any difference from Polypoid, Largo, Good Night, except their names. I think Polypoid, Ascension, Eclipse should be replace by one MSL, one OSL and one Proleague map.

At least, we have Lemon. It’s the best map in this season!

I’d be surprised if he actually manages to play to his standard because of his wrist, personally I wouldn’t even partake, I’d get my wrist fixed.
