The second of two items from the folks at IES that may have some interest among readers of this space.
Apply to Participate in the Meta-Analysis Training Institute
The IES-funded Meta-Analysis Training Institute (MATI) is currently accepting applications for a one-week intensive workshop in state-of-the-art methods to conduct large-scale research syntheses and meta-analyses. The MATI program is aimed at researchers interested in conducting research consistent with IES Exploration grants and SEER principles for rigorous research. The workshop will include a combination of lectures, hands-on activities implementing methods in R, and group activities. The training has three primary goals—
- Provide researchers with the methodological, statistical, project management, and practical experience necessary to conduct large-scale meta-analyses in various topic areas of education research
- Apply meta-analysis methods and models to explore effect size heterogeneity and account for complex error structures of large-scale meta-analyses
- Provide researchers with knowledge and tools related to open science and SEER principles to conduct research openly and transparently and present findings to policymakers and practitioners
MATI applicants must—
- Have completed their doctorate by the time of the workshop
- Have completed an introductory workshop on meta-analysis, worked on a meta-analysis, or completed an undergraduate or graduate course in meta-analysis
- Work in an academic institution or in educational research in another setting
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
The 2024 MATI in-person training will take place in downtown Chicago, IL, from July 22–28, 2024.
Applications are due Friday, March 31, 2024.
Visit the MATI website for more information and details about applying or contact the instruction team at MATI@gsu.edu if you have questions.
Researchers across a wide range of education topic areas and disciplines and from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
