Bring Youth Research Teams to the 2024 Annual Meeting
of the American Educational Research Association
Apply by November 16
The American Educational Research Association (AERA) is accepting proposals for the Youth Teams in Education Research (YTER) Program. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to encourage and enhance high school student engagement in education research. AERA’s Youth Teams in Education Research Program will bring teams of talented high school students to the 2024 AERA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia to present their work, develop their skills, network with peers, and foster their interest in the field. YTER will be held April 11–13, during the 2024 AERA Annual Meeting. Participating high school students will:
- Present their work in a high-profile featured poster session
- Participate in a mini-workshop to discuss their ongoing research projects, consequential research issues, and potential opportunities for continuing to pursue research engagement
- Meet with early career and senior scholars
- Attend a select group of featured Annual Meeting sessions
The program is designed to inspire, shape, and expand the next generation of education researchers.
Up to 10 teams of high school students will be competitively selected to participate in the YTER Initiative. The program is designed for high school students who are currently working with one or more education researchers on the researcher’s study or are being advised by an education researcher.
Applications will be advanced by education researchers, who will provide an overview of their work with high school youth. High school teachers or those at other organizations who are guiding high school students in research are also eligible to apply.
Teams selected to participate will receive partial funding support to attend the 2024 AERA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. Eligible YTER proposals must include a minimum of four and a maximum of eight high school students.
Proposals are due November 16, 2023. Accepted teams will be notified by January 12. To learn more and apply, read the Call for Proposals.
If you have questions about the YTER Program, please email edresearch@aera.net.
