Announcement: Javier Santoyo Appointed as Commercial Development Director – Europe at ClimateTrade

We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our team: Javier Santoyo as Commercial Development Director – Europe.

With his extensive experience in sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, Javier is set to drive our mission of creating a more sustainable and regenerative future.

A Pioneer in Sustainability and ESG

Javier Santoyo brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and expertise accumulated over a remarkable career spanning more than 15 years. Throughout his journey, he has collaborated with global powerhouses and Fortune 500 companies to cultivate and execute business strategies firmly anchored in sustainability principles.

Javier’s career has been characterized by a diverse range of roles that have enabled him to understand sustainability from every angle. He has worked both internally and externally as an advisor, contributing his insights to multinational corporations, civil society organizations, and specialized consultancies. Notable among these are his tenures at Salterbaxter and EcoAct (an Atos company).

In recent years, Javier has honed his expertise in climate strategy, with a particular emphasis on nature-based solutions and carbon-dioxide removal (CDR). His dedication to understanding the voluntary carbon markets and climate finance shows his commitment to driving systemic change. He firmly believes in the potential to collaboratively construct a regenerative economy within a just, Nature Positive, and Net Zero World.

Upon accepting the new position Javier said: 

“I’m delighted to be joining ClimateTrade and the timing feels very right. I have been following Fran’s journey since the company’s inception 5-6 years ago, so the decision to join forces feels like the natural next step.

I’m looking forward to sharing my industry insights at a time when the carbon and natural capital markets are about to experience exponential growth.

The climate and nature crises need all of us to work together collectively to help safeguard our future and that of the next generations. We must also prioritise the planet’s biodiversity and natural resources, via a just transition to a net zero and nature positive world. All of that being said, I’m both excited and humbled by the potential that lies ahead.”

An Educator and Thought Leader

Javier’s passion for sustainability extends beyond his professional endeavors. As a Kent MBA graduate, he has been an inspirational figure in education, delivering guest lectures, seminars, and workshops at esteemed institutions such as the University of Kent, Middlesex University, Greenwich University, the University of Galway, and the Vienna University of Economics and Business. His insights have shaped the minds of future leaders in Corporate Affairs and Sustainability.

Beyond his core work, Javier has demonstrated his commitment to driving change as an experienced non-executive trustee for various companies, NGOs, and social enterprises and he is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA).
