All 15 GTA Online animal locations for Wildlife Photography Challenge

A new daily challenge has come to Grand Theft Auto Online that requires players to snap pictures of animals throughout Los Santos and the surrounding wilderness. By completing the daily “Shoot Animals Photography” challenge from the LS Tourist Board, GTA Online players can earn cash and other free rewards.

While there are way more animals throughout Los Santos and Blaine County, there are 15 possible animals that you can get for your daily Wildlife Photography Challenge in GTA Online.

GTA Online Boar Locations

While boars aren’t the most common animals in GTA Online, they are some of the easiest to spot since they’re so big and they move so slowly. You’ll have to travel to the northern half of the map to find them. They spawn most commonly in Sandy Shores. You can find them elsewhere, but they’re easiest to find in Sandy Shores since there aren’t any places for them to hide.

GTA Online Cat Locations

Cats are some of the most common animals in GTA Online and you can find them anywhere in Los Santos. The best place to find a cat is in Strawbery, the neighborhood where Franklin lives story mode. Stray cats are all over Strawberry and you can see them lounging on fences or sneaking around bushes throughout the neighborhood. All in all, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one as long as you drive slowly through the city.

GTA Online Chicken Hawk Locations

Finding any of the required birds for the Shoot Animals Photography challenge is a pain, but Chicken Hawks are the easiest avians to locate. They live almost exclusively in the northern half of the map. To save yourself the headache, just climb Mount Chilliad and scout the skies for Chicken Hawks up there. You can also drive through Sandy Shores since that’s a popular spawn location for them.

GTA Online Cow Locations

Cows aren’t common in GTA Online, but they’re super easy to find since they only spawn on farms in a handful of spots. There’s a farm just north of Sandy Shores with a bunch of cows, and you can also find a smaller farm in Vinewood Hills just outside of Los Santos across the highway from Martin Madrazo’s compound.

GTA Online Coyote Locations

Coyotes can be found basically anywhere outside of Los Santos in GTA Online. You’ll likely find a few while driving along the highway that leads to Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay, but the absolute best place to find them is Sandy Shores itself. There’s always one or two stalking the small town’s streets, and their cries make them very easy to find from afar.

GTA Online Deer Locations

Deer are super easy to find in GTA Online. They tend to jump in front of your car when you’re driving and they’re also some of the first animals you’ll see when you go for a hike in the northern wilderness. Deer tend to spawn quite frequently on the hiking trails along the western highway leading to Paleto Bay, and you’re just about guaranteed to find a few if you follow the trail that begins at the LS Tourist Board.

GTA Online Great Cormorant Locations

These birds are the bane of my existence. Great Cormorants are very hard to find and only appear in a handful of very specific locations in GTA Online. A bunch of guides will tell you to search the Grand Senora Desert to find them, but that’s not the best spot. You’re basically guaranteed to find Great Cormorants flying in the air to the west of Martin Madrazo’s compound.

To the west of Madrazo’s compound, there are a few hills where Great Cormorants like to flock. I typically have the best luck finding them on the hills overlooking the prison. If that doesn’t work, then they also spawn on the hills just east of the LS Tourist Board, but not as frequently.

GTA Online Hen Locations

Hens don’t have too many spawn locations in GTA Online, but like most other livestock, they can be found at farms across the map. There are a handful of hens located in Paleto Bay at the northern edge of the map, and a small farm in Sandy Shores also has a few. There are even hens in Los Santos at a select few houses in Strawberry if you check their backyards.

GTA Online Mountain Lion Locations

Mountain lions are very easy to find in GTA Online since they tend to attack you before you can see them. They can be found anywhere on the map, but the best places to find them are the hiking trails near the LS Tourist Board, the highway leading east out of Los Santos, and the eastern highway near Sandy Shores.

Getting a picture of them can be tricky since they’re so aggressive, but remember that you can snap pictures from the safety of your car. Also, you can jump onto the roof of your car and they won’t be able to attack you if it’s large enough.

GTA Online Pig Locations

To find pigs in GTA Online, just visit the same places where you’d find cows and hens. There are two major pig farms in GTA Online. The first is located along the highway leading north out of Los Santos to the west of Madrazo’s compound. The second is across the bay from Sandy Shores.

GTA Online Poodle Locations

Poodles only have one spawn location in GTA Online, but they always spawn with a person walking them. They appear in Rockford Hills, the wealthy neighborhood on the northern side of Los Santos where Michael lives in story mode. To find a poodle, just slowly cruise through the neighborhood and keep an eye on the sidewalks.

GTA Online Pug Locations

Like poodles, pugs are also found in Rockford Hills in GTA Online. The same principle applies here. Pugs will always have someone walking them, so check every NPC on the sidewalks for a canine companion. They can be hard to spot since they’re so small, so drive slowly.

GTA Online Rabbit Locations

Rabbits are by far the most common animal in GTA Online. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding one. Rabbits spawn most commonly at transitional areas that lead into the wilderness, so they show up a lot at the beginning of trails right off the highway. Snapping a picture of them can be difficult, so walk slowly and take the photo before you spook them.

GTA Online Seagull Locations

Seagulls are the easiest birds to find in GTA Online since they’re guaranteed to show up in their respective spawn locations. As you’d expect, seagulls live along the coast. The absolute best place to find them is Vespucci Beach on the western coast of Los Santos, but you can also find them along the highway that wraps around the north of the map.

GTA Online Shoot Animals Photography Rewards

Each day, you can visit the LS Tourist Board to receive three new animal photography targets. Each successful photo that you snap will reward you with $20,000. After taking your first picture, the Park Ranger vehicle will be unlocked at Warstock Cache & Carry. Taking 10 photos will unlock the trade price for the Park Ranger. Once you take three pictures, you’ll unlock the special Zoophilist outfit for free.

Unfortunately, this activity is only available on the next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Grand Theft Auto Online since wildlife isn’t available on other platforms, not even PC. Even though some platforms missed out on animals, all platforms did receive the recent Chop Shop update, though.
