France national flag carrier Air France has just announced the reopening of its fully redesigned lounge at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL). In a company statement published on August 11, 2021, the full-service carrier said the Hong Kong-headquartered Plaza Premium Group partnered in the makeover.
Air France Business and Flying Blue Elite Plus customers can now experience a vast elegant space to relax ahead of their flight. The Air France Montreal lounge offers nearly 500 square meters of space with a seating capacity of 149. The lounge is located in the international section of Terminal 1 and boasts large bay windows offering views of the runways and parked Air France aircraft.
The lounge features Air France colors
Several Canadian companies worked together with Air France to help the SkyTeam alliance member select furnishings and lighting. The colors selected for the lounge feature the red, white, and blue of the airline’s livery along with the Air France winged seahorse brand symbol.
In the lounge, Air France customers will find a variety of seating, allowing them to relax, work or eat in comfort. A shared work area is available with free WiFi and USB charging points together with a special shower area for Flying Blue Ultimate customers who wish to freshen up before their flight.
The redesign of the lounge also meant the disposal of its old furniture. Some were given to charity, while others were auctioned off to Montreal Air France and KLM staff. All the proceeds for the auction went to the Montreal-based Le Chaînon Foundation who help to provide shelter for women in distress.
Food is at the heart of the lounge
In the newly redesigned lounge, passengers will find a large catering area emphasizing French cuisine. A self-service buffet offers hot and cold savory and sweet food throughout the day. Vegetarians and those seeking gluten-free dishes will have plenty of options from which to select.
Air France will introduce a new dedicated catering service for business travelers taking the last Air France flight from Montreal to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in the autumn. With in-seat, restaurant-style service, business passengers can enjoy gourmet meals identical to those served on Air France flights. Hors d’oeuvres, a hot main course, cheese, desserts, wine, and a champagne menu will be offered to qualifying passengers.
Should passengers wish to dine in the lounge and rest during the flight without being interrupted by the meal service, Air France requests that they are told in advance. If a request to dine before the flight and forgo the inflight meal is made, Air France will not load the meal on the aircraft to help limit food waste.
