The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has signed a contract with Edge company SIGN4L for the provision of counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UASs).

Announced by Edge on 30 January, the contract includes the provision of the vehicle-based SkyShield and the NavControl-G jammer.

SIGN4L had not responded to جینز at the time of publication regarding the number of units being supplied and the delivery timeframes.

First unveiled at IDEX in March 2023, SkyShield is an omnidirectional vehicle-based C-UAS suited for tactical missions. The system features an X-band radar, an electro-optical camera, adirection-finder, a radio frequency (RF) detector, and an omnidirectional jammer that operates in the 400 MHz to 6 GHz frequency range. It can be deployed within five minutes and is capable of detecting and neutralising multiple UASs from up to 3 km away, Filip Kostomlatsky, then senior programme manager for electronic warfare and intelligence at SIGN4L, said.

A takeover control capability is also under development, he added.
