New Delhi: The MiG-29K fighter aircraft undertook a ‘maiden’ night landing on indigenously-built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.

Sjøforsvaret sa at denne utfordrende prestasjonen, innen tre måneder etter jomfrudaglandingen, demonstrerer besluttsomheten, dyktigheten og profesjonaliteten til den indiske marinen, Vikrant-mannskapet og sjøpilotene.

Nattlandingen av den russiske MiG-29K fant sted 24. mai natt da skipet seilte i Arabiahavet.

Forsvarsminister Rajnath Singh gratulerte også den indiske marinen med de vellykkede forsøkene på jomfrunattlanding av MiG-29K på INS Vikrant.

“Congratulations to the Indian Navy for successfully undertaking the maiden night landing trials of MiG-29K on #INSVikrant. This remarkable achievement is a testimony to the skills, perseverance and professionalism of the Vikrant crew and Naval pilots. Kudos to them,” Defence Minister tweeted.

INS Vikrant, det første innfødte hangarskipet og det mest komplekse krigsskipet som noen gang er bygget i vårt land av Cochin Shipyard Ltd, har gjennomgått omfattende sjøprøver siden hennes jomfruseiling 4. august 2021.

Commissioned into the Indian Navy on September 2, last year, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Carrier is a big boost to the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision of the Government of India.

The Carrier is presently undergoing Air Certification and Flight Integration Trials with Rotary Wing and Fixed Wing aircraft for achieving a ‘Combat ready’ state at the earliest.

Som en del av forsøkene ble førstedagslandingen av MiG-29K og urbefolkningen TEJAS (marinen) oppnådd 6. februar 2023.

Siden den gang har landingsforsøk på dag og natt av alle helikoptre i marineinventaret blitt videreført.
