The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) recently released its report on fossil fuels and emissions, and the results show a mixed picture. According to the report, total energy consumption in the United States rose by 1.5 percent in 2018, while emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) from energy consumption increased by 2.7 percent. The report also found that natural gas consumption increased by 4.1 percent in 2018, while coal consumption decreased by 6.6 percent.
